Welcome to Open Gate Acres! We raise beef, chicken, flowers and other goods on our family farm near Chariton, Iowa.

A flower farm has always been a dream for us and 2026 was the year we decided to follow our flower field dreams. Already being row crop and cattle farmers, we know how the weather controls everything. 2026 was a crazy weather year in Lucas County. We had some delays with getting the field plowed/tilled, more delays with getting seedlings in the ground. Once all seedlings were planted, we got 12 inches of rain over the span of just a few days, along with hail. We thought for sure the flowers were going to be a total loss. However, they came back and looked so good! We truly cannot wait to see how the flower field continues to change year after year + bring joy to those who visit. We are so incredibly grateful for every customer, every person who shared our social media and helped spread word about us, and those who helped with the dirty work. Thank you!
